Muhammad-White Award Nominations
The purpose of the Muhammad-White Award is to recognize and celebrate enduring excellence in mitigation over the course of an individual’s career. This award has been named for two clients who have played key roles in ARC, Inc.’s history: one who informed our understanding of the critical role of the client relationship in achieving just legal outcomes and one who helped us begin our work to advance mitigation to areas beyond capital work. Though the award is named for two clients, it is our hope that it honors the many lessons we have learned from each of our clients and their legacy in the way we carry those lessons forward in our work.
With this award, we seek to recognize a mitigation specialist whose body of work has profoundly advanced the field. The honoree’s work will be characterized by a dedication to prioritizing the humanity of clients and by a deep understanding of and commitment to investigative best practices. Nominators may wish to highlight such achievements as groundbreaking or innovative casework; exceptional case outcomes; and/or active engagement with the mitigation community through mentorship, research, publications, training, partnerships, and other outreach opportunities. In short, the recipient of this award will be someone who has raised the standard of mitigation provided to not only their clients, but those whose lives are impacted by others within the defense community.
The the Muhammad-White Award will be presented at ARC, Inc.'s virtual event, Together Towards Justice, featuring keynote speaker Sister Helen Prejean. The event will be held on Saturday, October 24.
