Mitigation investigation is a powerful tool for those seeking to disrupt the dehumanizing narratives often seen in the criminal justice system. The Houston Mitigation Training will provide participants with key skills and techniques needed to conduct such an investigation effectively. This training will be a three-day training led by nationally recognized faculty. Workshop topics include Roots of Mitigation Evidence in Criminal Cases; Mitigation’s Purpose and Power; Storytelling in Criminal Defense Cases; Listen, Empathize, Agree, Partner: Learning to LEAP; Defense Teams and Dynamics; School to Prison Pipeline and Understanding Your Client’s History; and others.
